Man exposes himself to girl, 5, police say

A 34-year-old Glendale man is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday on charges that he exposed himself to his neighbor’s 5-year-old daughter and claimed she belonged to him as he stood naked, officials said.

Prosecutors have charged Stephen Fries with a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure in the Sept. 4 incident, according to a Los Angeles County Superior Court criminal complaint.

Glendale police on Thursday arrested him on a bench warrant issued after an investigation into allegations from the girl’s father, who claimed Fries was naked when he yelled “That is supposed to be mine” twice, referring to the girl, according to police reports.

“The investigation revealed that he knew what he was doing,” Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Fries allegedly told police on Sept. 4 that he was interested in “finding a virgin” who was 7 or older for marriage, according to police reports. Police said he also spoke of martial arts and pachyderms.

During a search of Fries home, police reportedly found thousands of Disney documents and photographs.

The girl’s father told police that Fries was naked when he exited his home in the 1100 block of Boynton Street and was irrationally screaming at her.

Neighbors also told officers that they had seen Fries twirling around a samurai sword several times before.

After police called out to Fries to come out of his house, he quickly approached officers and allegedly yelled, “I’m white just like you.”

Police immediately arrested Fries, who agreed to allow them to search his home.

Along with the Disney items, police discovered drug paraphernalia, alcohol and a samurai sword next to the kitchen sink, according to an incident report.

They also found toy samurai warriors and martial arts items, police said.
