Students help out on Biliary Atresia Day

November 01, 2011

Over 20 students of Crescenta Valley High School volunteered in October at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Members of the Falcon men’s baseball team and women’s volleyball team pitched in at Biliary Atresia Day, an event sponsored by Kasper Wang, a pediatric surgeon who is a father of one of the student volunteers.

Biliary atresia is a liver disease that affects newborn babies. If left untreated after three months of age, the infant can die.

Crescenta Valley students played with patients and their siblings so parents of those patients could attend a seminar to learn about the disease and interact with parents who are facing the same issues.
