As Jackson fans celebrate Murray verdict, a few visit the pop icon's grave site

November 07, 2011

About 20 fans visited Michael Jackson's grave site in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Monday after a jury found his physician, Conrad Murray, guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

As Jackson supporters celebrated the verdict outside the courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, the scene was more subdued at the Glendale cemetery, where Forest Lawn spokesman William Martin said a well-behaved group of people had gathered to pay their respects.

Forest Lawn had made contingencies for a larger crowd at the grave site, but Martin declined to elaborate.

Murray was found guilty Monday for causing Jackson's death in 2009 by administering a powerful surgical anesthetic. The pop icon was interred at the Holly Terrace at the cemetery’s Great Mausoleum. The site, the storied final resting place for several other icons, is not open to the public.
