Esperanza G. Ramirez

Esperanza G. Ramirez, a beloved Mother and grandmother went home to the Lord, on Thursday, November 3, 2011.  She was born in Mascota, Jalisco, Mexico April 26, 1927.  A 40 year resident of East Chicago, Indiana, Esperanza moved to Glendale, California in 1991 after retiring from Inland Steel Company where she was a steelworker for 25 years. Esperanza is survived by her daughter, Paz Maria R. Martinez and her son-in-law, Steven Martinez who resides in Glendale, California; two sisters-in-law, Judith Lopez-Garcia in Mexico, Maria Carrillo from El Monte, California and adopted Brother Roberto (Trina) Ramirez from Indiana. She has large extended and adopted family in Mexico, California, and Indiana as well as numerous nephews, nieces and god-children.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Ramirez and Jacoba Garcia, Her brothers Alberto Garcia and Jacinto Carrillo, adopted sister Refugio (Cuca) Lozano, adopted brother Salvador (Chops) Ramirez and a grandchild Alex Martinez. 

In her golden years she took much pride as an active participant in the lives of her four grandchildren: Armando Pastor Martinez, Apolonia Mia Martinez and Angelica Guadalupe Martinez, and Adan Alejandro Martinez.

Esperanza was a devoted member of the Church of the Incarnation community. She was also a member of Incarnation’s Spanish Prayer group, a supporter of El Sembrado and several other Catholic charities.  All her life she put God first in her life and was devoted to her faith through hours of daily prayer and Bible reading. All who knew her were touched by her love of God, her kindness, compassion, genuinely caring and loving spirit. She will be miss dearly by all who knew her.

Services and rosary to be held at Callanan & Woods Funeral Home, 511 South Central Avenue, Glendale, California 91204 on Tuesday November 8, 2011 from 6pm to 8:30 pm.  A memorial mass will be held at the Church of the Incarnation, 1001 North Brand Blvd. Glendale, CA 91202 Wednesday November 9, 2011 at 11am.
