Morton Benjamin Crane
The Crane family is saddened by the loss of another member of “The Greatest Generation”. After a slow decline, Morton passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, October 22, 2011. He was 97.
Morton was born in New York on June 28, 1914, and was raised in Floral Park, New York. After graduating High School, he continued his education at the University of Delaware. It was there that he met the love of his life, Alberta Smith.
Mort served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was stationed in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor and in February, 1945 was in Iwo Jima. After the War, he and Alberta settled in California. The first house he built was in La Canada in the 1950’s. A few years later, nearby, he built a second house, where he and Alberta raised their two sons.
