Police continue to investigate a fatal hit and run that took place Wednesday afternoon near Olive Avenue and Sunset Canyon Road.

A 67-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, was crossing Olive when he was struck by a minivan traveling east on Olive shortly after 5 p.m., Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick said.  The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the minivan fled the scene without stopping to render aid to the victim, police said.

“At approximately 8:10 p.m., the Burbank Police Department received a phone call from a male who said his father had been involved in the collision,” Kendrick said.

Burbank police officers responded to the individual’s residence in the city of Burbank where the man was interviewed by investigators, but was not arrested, Kendrick said.

The minivan, a 2005 Nissan Quest, was impounded as evidence and the investigation is on-going, Kendrick added.
