Assistant City Manager Yasmin Beers has been named Glendale’s interim city manager. She will take over for City Manager Jim Starbird, who is retiring in December.

Scott Ochoa, city manager of Monrovia, will be replacing Starbird in January.

The City Council will be finalizing Beers’ appointment Nov. 29. Whether her monthly salary will increase for the interim time period is still being discussed, said city spokesman Tom Lorenz.

Ochoa is slated to earn about $235,000 a year plus benefits, just below Starbird’s roughly $240,000 salary. Beers currently earns $170,100 annually plus benefits, according to city records.
