Babies born in the New Year to parents in Glendale, Burbank

The first baby born in Glendale in the New Year arrived at 4:24 a.m. Jan. 1 to first-time parents and Glendale residents Elina Hovhannisyan and Roubik Rostamloo.

Their son David, who was due on Dec. 31, was born at Glendale Adventist Medical Center weighing six pounds and three ounces.

“It is a huge blessing for me,” Rostamloo said. “I’m a lucky guy.”

At Verdugo Hills Hospital, Roger and Erica Fajardo, both 29 of Northridge, welcomed Dominic at 6:25 a.m.

On Saturday night, the Fajardos hosted a quiet New Year’s gathering at their home with family and friends. They went to sleep at 1 a.m., but awoke at 3 a.m. when Erica went into labor.

“We didn’t expect a New Year’s baby,” Roger said beaming. “We’ll take it.”

Dominic, who is their first child, was due on Jan. 12.

Nineteen inches tall, Dominic was born weighing six pounds and 11 ounces.

“Everything everybody says about it is right,” said Roger about birth. “It’s great, it’s nerve-racking, it’s exciting. All the clichés you hear are correct.”

The first baby born in Burbank was Keily Urive, the first daughter born to Jessica Ortiz and Eduardo Urive of Sunland.

Keily (pronounced kay-lee) was born at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center at 7:12 a.m. Jan. 1 and weighed seven pounds and seven ounces. Keily is also a younger sister to her brother Kevin who is one-and-a-half.

At Glendale Memorial Hospital on Sunday, a baby girl named Hayden Marie Davis was born at 7:22 a.m. to parents Makenna and Levon Davis of Glendale.

She weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces and measured 19 inches tall. She is the second daughter for Makenna, 25 and Levon, 33, who have a two-year-old named Deja.

“I feel anxious to go home. I feel really good,” Makenna said. “I’ve been up and I’m ready. We’re going to have our hands full to say the least.”
