Winds, warm temperatures to subside today

Temperatures are expected to return to normal in Southern California after a week of windy, summer-like weather that broke some heat records.

The National Weather Service lifted the red-flag warning issued Saturday for parts of Los Angeles. The advisory was issued when strong Santa Ana winds coupled with low humidity and warm temperatures increased the chance of potentially dangerous wildfires.

By Monday, winds had calmed and were expected to reach only 6 to 12 mph in the afternoon, according to the weather service.
