Rain-slick morning to dissipate as warm, dry weather moves in

January 23, 2012

Scattered rain showers are making for a slow-going rush hour commute this morning, but forecasters say rapidly clearing skies this evening will mark the beginning of a warm, dry week.

A two-car crash reported at about 7:30 a.m. on the northbound Interstate 5 in Burbank continues to snarl traffic through the corridor, and the southbound Glendale (2) Freeway remained stop-and-go as of 8:15 a.m.

Between 6 and 10 inches of snow could fall on local mountains in the 6,000-foot range, according to the National Weather Service.

The roadways are expected to remain slick for most of the day, with clouds starting to break up and move out this evening,  the weather service said.

Temperatures are expected to jump 10 degrees Tuesday and then again on Wednesday under clear skies, setting the stage for daytime highs in the lower-80s through Friday.
