Rebels run Prep League gauntlet

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 65, Pasadena Poly 43: Kareem Ismail scored a career-high 15 points and added 15 rebounds Tuesday to lead the visiting Rebels in a Prep League regular season finale that wrapped up a perfect 8-0 run through the Prep League. Kory Hamane added 12 points for Flintridge Prep (17-7), which won its fifth straight league crown and 10th in the last 11 years.

El Camino Real 57, Renaissance Academy 54: The Wildcats nearly overcame a double-digit, third-quarter deficit, but a desperation three-pointer from Jessy Cantinol was off the mark as Renaissance fell on Saturday in the Alemany Showcase loss.

Vince De Guzman had a game-high 25 points for Renaissnace with Cantinol adding 16. Kevin Dinges also had 11 points for the Wildcats, as the trio was responsible for all but two of their team's points.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Pasadena Poly 97, Flintridge Prep 22: Maya Okamoto had seven points in the Rebels' Prep League loss to first-place Poly on Tuesday. The Rebels fell to 7-16, 2-9 in league.

Kimberly Kim finished with 13 points Monday for the host Rebels in a 36-34 Prep League loss to Westridge. Okamoto contributed nine points for Flintridge Prep.

GIRLS' SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 1, Webb 0: The Rebels took 32 shots, but only a Kaitlyn Kelleher goal in the 63rd minute found the back of the net.

It was enough to clinch a share of the Prep League title, though, as Tuesday's league road win improved the Rebels to 14-2-1 overall and 8-1 in league.

Connell Studenmund assisted the goal on a cross and goalie Casey Cousineau needed to make just two saves in the shutout.

BOYS' SOCCER

St. Francis 1, Chaminade 1: The Golden Knights gave up the equalizing goal in the 78th minute when a win would have put St. Francis (7-78, 6-1-4 in league) into a tie for first place in the Mission League.

Luke Hatanaka, a defender, had the Knights' lone goal in the 28th minute on an assist from Zach Montes.

GIRLS' WATER POLO

South Pasadena 15, La Cañada 3: The Spartans dropped a Rio Hondo League game to the defending league champions at home Tuesday. The loss brings La Cañada's record to 2-11, 0-7 in league, as it travels to San Marino for its season finale Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
