The L.A. County Sheriff's Department launched a successful land and air rescue effort for a missing motorist in the Angeles Forest.

A 56 year-old woman from Juniper Hills in the Palmdale area left Pasadena late yesterday driving a white 1999 Ford Ranger, KTLA-TV reported.

She was located on Angeles Forest Hwy at mile marker 10.47. Her car was spotted 300 feet down the side of a steep, snow-covered embankment.

The woman was rescued alive, but she was severely hypothermic and in critical condition with head injuries after spending the night on the embankment. She had been ejected from her car and was found near the vehicle.

She was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Her identity had not been released.

The woman reportedly drives back from Pasadena to Palmdale weekly, and her usual route is Angeles Crest Hwy to Angeles Forest Hwy.
