A prelude to summer is expected today with temperatures in some areas of Southern California, including Pasadena, expected to reach about 90 degrees.
While downtown Los Angeles' temperatures will hover around 80, forecasters said, places such as Palmdale and Lancaster will hit 91. Woodland Hills, which typically posts the hottest temperatures in the city of L.A., could climb to 93 degrees.
"People looking to cool off will need to head to the coast," Stuart Seto, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service, told The Times.
Temperatures at the beaches are expected to range from the mid 60s to the low 70s.
The springtime heat is expected to dissipate by Saturday. On Sunday, the Southland is in for a bit of fog and cooler weather, with temperatures in the 70s, forecasters said.
