Nitros net playoff win

GIRLS' LACROSSE

Glendale 10, Birmingham 5: The Nitros won their first round Southern Section North playoff game on the road Monday, thanks to a three-goal performance from Jenna Nance and Elena Pierce, who also had an assist. Ahuixchel Lopez-Engelman anchored Glendale (9-10) on defense and also had three draw controls.

Glendale continues in the second round of the postseason at 6 p.m. today against Agoura.

SOFTBALL

Arcadia 10, Hoover 2: Kaitlyn Williams and Lilly Rivera both knocked in a run for Hoover, which fell to 6-10, 2-6 in league at home Tuesday.

The Tornadoes will hit the road and look to get back in the win column against Muir today.

Crescenta Valley 15, L.A. Poly 1: Hannah Cookson and Tiffany Briscoe each hit a home run Saturday to lead the Falcons in a nonleague game. Hannah Cookson finished with four runs batted in for the Falcons, who got three apiece from Hailey Cookson, Taylor Hill and Briscoe.

BASEBALL

Flintridge Prep 14, Rio Hondo Prep 4 (six innings): Clayton Weirick got through six innings with two earned runs allowed on just 68 pitches in a Prep League victory on the road Tuesday.

Prep (6-14, 3-7) totaled 14 hits.

Arcadia 15, Hoover 0 (five innings): The Apaches defeated Hoover (4-14, 2-8 in league) handily Tuesday.

BOYS' GOLF

Flintridge Prep in Prep league Tournament: Jack Bouchard shot a four-over-par 76 on Tuesday at Brookside Golf Course No. 1. Teammate Richard Lo had a 91. The tournament's second round will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the same location. The top four from the field of 14 will move on to the CIF Southern Section Individual Tournament on May 14.

St. Francis in Mission League finals: The Golden Knights shot a 397 to take sixth in the league finals Monday at Lakewood Country Club. The individual tournament will take place at 10 a.m. today at Wilson Golf Course at Griffith Park.

BOYS' VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis 3, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 1: Chris Thompson recorded 49 assists Monday to lead visiting St. Francis to a 25-17, 16-25, 25-23, 26-24 Mission League win. Charles McCarthy collected 20 kills and Wesley Coffey added 15 for St. Francis (12-5, 7-5 in league).

BOYS' TENNIS

St. Francis in Mission League finals: John Kazanjian and Christopher Grosvenor came close to defeating the league's No. 2 seed in doubles from Harvard-Westlake, as they forced a tie-breaking set but just lost, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

Kazanjian and Grosvenor spent the season as St. Francis' top two singles players, but were shifted into doubles for the tournament Monday.
