A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling marijuana out of his home to local high school students, officials said.

Kenneth Flye was arrested about 8 p.m. on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale after an undercover police surveillance of his home in the 500 block of West Lexington Drive, where detectives spotted several teens and young adults stopping by throughout the day, Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

“Word spreads among kids,” he said. “From there, there are no geographic boundaries on where they are going to get their bud.”

The investigation into Flye's activities came after a few community members provided police with anonymous tips about him selling drugs to “high school-aged kids,” Lorenz said.

Police also received information that students from Glendale and Los Angeles Unified were making the trek to Flye's home to allegedly buy drugs.

During the police investigation, detectives determined Flye was not selling at, or inside, local schools, Lorenz said.

Detectives obtained a warrant to search Flye's home, where they discovered approximately a pound of marijuana inside a plastic bag, packaging materials and equipment used to sell marijuana, Lorenz added.

The street value for the seized marijuana was estimated to be at least $1,000, Lorenz said.

Roughly two weeks ago, detectives also arrested three men in connection with selling pot after seizing nearly 900 marijuana plants during an undercover investigation.

Detectives found 700 plants on May 23 inside an Van Nuys warehouse that police say was connected to an irrigation business, Green Light Hydroponics, in Montrose.

Another 200 plants were seized inside an employee's home, while 40 pounds of marijuana were found inside the home of business owner, police said.
