Glendale police seize marijuana, scale, other paraphernalia from parked motorist

July 10, 2012

A 19-year-old Glendale man was arrested on suspicion of selling marijuana after police found a scale and several containers of the drug inside his car, officials said.

Police were patrolling about 8:36 p.m. Saturday in a secluded area in the 3400 block of Stancrest Drive, where they often find narcotics and illegal sex activity, according to Glendale police reports.

Officers approached the man, Jordan Whaley, as he sat alone in his parked car, police said.

He told police that he got lost while heading home, but they could smell “a strong odor of fresh marijuana,” according to reports.

Police spotted a few buds of marijuana on the floorboard, prompting Whaley to admit to smoking and having the drug inside the car, according to reports.

Whaley reportedly told police he visited the same area two weeks ago to smoke marijuana, but didn’t have a medical marijuana license.

Officers seized marijuana that was found in five plastic bottles, a plastic bag, glass jar and black box , as well as a digital scale, according to a police report.

They also found a cell phone with a text conversation regarding alleged drug sales, police said.

Whaley’s vehicle was also impounded.
