Glendale police plan DUI checkpoint for Friday

July 12, 2012

Glendale police plan to conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday at an undisclosed location in the city.

Officers will also check motorists for valid driver’s licenses during the grant-funded checkpoint.

More than 100 driving under the influence-involved collisions have occurred in the city in the past year, according to Glendale Police Sgt. Rich Phillips. At least 32 people were injured in those crashes.

Motorists arrested on suspicion of DUI will likely have their license suspended, enroll in DUI classes and pay fines of at least $10,000, police said.
