All-Area Boys' Tennis Singles Players

Calvin Fox, Sophomore, Burroughs

Versatile athlete competed in singles and doubles in helping the Indians advance to the CIF Southern Section Division II semifinals. Finished second in the Pacific League in singles behind teammate Garrett Auproux and advanced to CIF Individuals.

Garrett Mak, Sophomore, La Salle

Proved to be a steady force for the Lancers, finishing as the runner-up in the Del Rey League tournament. He also advanced to the third round of the Southern Section Individual Tournament. Finished with a 30-2 league mark.

James Wade, Sophomore, San Marino

Captured the individual championship in the tough Rio Hondo League and was the only area player beside All-Area Singles Player of the Year Garrett Auproux to advance to the round of 16 at the CIF Southern Section Individual Tournament. Wade also reached the round of 16 at the prestigious Ojai Tournament and finished with a 42-5 mark.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Melvin Pereira, San Marino

First-year coach led the Titans to a 12-4 final record, advancement to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs and an undefeated Rio Hondo League championship. San Marino's postseason run was stopped by eventual division champion Irvine University. Pereira was also the only area coach to advance both a singles and doubles team to the CIF Individual round of 16.
