More triple-digit temperatures are expected Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure settles in over Southern California and the area continues to swelter.
The heat wave is expected to last through Saturday, with the highest temperatures likely from Thursday on. But the differences between Wednesday and the rest of the week may be slight.
“It may be hotter later in the week but you’re not really going to be able to tell,” National Weather Service meterologist Rich Thompson said.
It’ll be plenty hot Wednesday, with highs of 109 expected in Woodland Hills and Santa Clarita, about 100 in Burbank and Pasadena and 91 in downtown Los Angeles. Lancaster tied its record for the day Tuesday of 107.

LOCAL COOLING CENTERS
Burbank reminded residents of the availability of Buena Vista Library, 300 N. Buena Vista St, or the Central Library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd., as "cooling centers" for those seeking a respite from the heat.
The Northwest Branch Library on West Victory Boulevard remains closed for seismic retrofitting until spring 2013.
The Adult Recreation Center and library branches in Glendale are also available for relief from the heat.
