Police are asking for the public’s help in gathering more details about a shooting that left a 36-year-old Glendale man injured from a bullet wound.

Officers responded to the shooting about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Riverdale Drive, where they spotted a vehicle in the area and followed it to Glendale Memorial Hospital, police said.

The shooting victim had flagged down the driver and asked him to take him to the hospital because he was shot in his upper torso, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

While he was the hospital, medical staff recovered ammunition in his clothing that matched that for a gun that was recovered at the scene of the shooting on Riverdale, Lorenz said.

Earlier that evening, the victim and his wife attended a party at a banquet hall in Burbank, police said. But when the party got out of hand and a fight broke out, the couple left for their home on West Maple Street.

He later told his wife that he was going out to get cigarettes before leaving home, which is when the shooting occurred, police said.

Detectives on Monday were still unclear about what motivated the shooting and don’t know if there were more victims.

Anyone with details about the shooting was encouraged to call robbery and homicide detectives at (818) 548-3987. To remain anonymous, call Glendale Crime Stoppers at (818) 507-7867.
