February 06, 2013|By Joyce Rudolph

Kimberly Rhodes has been named network director of Family Promise of East San Fernando Valley, which serves Glendale. Family Promise is a national nonprofit organization committed to helping low-income families to achieve lasting independence.

Rhodes has worked in the social service and nonprofit field for more than 20 years. She earned a bachelor's degree in art with a minor in human services from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala. While attending college, she spent four months as a missionary in Miami, working with Cuban refugees.

After working in domestic violence and mental health in Alabama for several years, Rhodes secured a position in the private sector and moved to California. She returned to the mental health field by accepting the position of program director for a residential treatment facility for transitional youth and worked her way up to the position of director of programs and services, supervising multiple programs and facilities.
