Four men were arrested on suspicion of beating up a bartender outside Giggles Nightclub after he refused to serve them drinks and instead offered to buy them hot dogs, police said.

The 41-year-old bartender told officers the nightclub in the 200 block of North Brand Boulevard was closing when the man asked for the drinks, according to Glendale police. He told officers he felt tension between himself and the men.

The men — identified as Fernando Lopez, 29, Jose Reyes, 29, Yunior Gonzalez, 24, and Jose Martinez, 24 — later approached the bartender and his son outside the nightclub, police said.

At some point, the bartender’s son told police one of the men began arguing with him because he was talking to the man’s girlfriend, police said.

The bartender had also reportedly offered to buy everyone, including the men, hot dogs because he was in a celebratory mood, his brother told police.

Soon after, the man allegedly pushed and punched the bartender’s son, which prompted him to intervene.

The bartender’s brother told officers the four men kicked his brother while he was on ground, punched his nephew and assaulted him, police said.

The brother was able to take photographs of the men’s vehicle before they fled the area.

The bartender and his son were taken to Glendale Memorial Hospital, where they refused treatment, police said.

Officers were able to stop the men at Brand Boulevard and the Ventura (134) Freeway, and they were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
