Cloudy Easter Sunday expected, with slight chance of sprinkles

March 29, 2013

Easter Sunday will be cloudy with possibly a few sprinkles, but forecasters have toned down their predictions of a rainy holiday.

The storm system moving through Southern California is not carrying as much moisture as initially thought, National Weather Service meteorologist Kathy Hoxsie told the L.A. Times.

The chance of rain on Sunday has been revised down to 20% from earlier forecasts of 30% to 50%. No rain is in the forecast for Monday.

If it does rain, expect only a light drizzle.

“People should be aware that they could get some sprinkles here and there, but I wouldn’t cancel anything,” Hoxsie said. “An umbrella would be good. I guess there could still be some sprinkles in the area.”

In the tri-city area, expect clouds to begin moving in on Saturday, when daytime highs are expected to be in the high-60s, according to the weather service. On Sunday, expect afternoon winds of about 15 mph and a 20% chance of rain.

The sky will break up into partly cloudy conditions on Monday.
