Glendale man, 81, with diabetes, dementia reported missing

[Update 5:42 p.m.] Glendale police found Byung Jin Choi just before 5 p.m. in the 300 block of North Glendale Avenue after a passerby reported an elderly person with a walker who appeared to need help. Police said they took him to Glendale Adventist Hospital and have alerted his family.

"He was treated for dehydration, but otherwise seemed fine," said Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

Police are looking for a missing 81-year-old Glendale man who suffers from dementia and was last seen leaving his home on Tuesday.

Byung Jin Choi, who also has diabetes, was using a walker when he left his home for a stroll about 2:30 p.m. in the 300 block of West Stocker Street, police said. Choi needs certain medications, which he didn’t possess at the time he went missing.

Police were not able to locate Choi despite having alerted nearby hospitals, other law enforcement agencies and transportation officials.

Choi is 5 feet 2 inches tall, 150 pounds and has gray hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a denim long-sleeve shirt, green shorts and a blue baseball cap.
