OF – Luke Asperger, Senior, Pasadena Poly

An All-CIF Division V and Prep League first-team selection, Asberger was crucial in the Panthers sharing a piece of the Prep League title and advancing to the CIF quarterfinals. Put up big numbers at the plate to the tune of a .443 batting average with nine home runs, 35 runs scored and 25 driven in.

P – Jeff Bain, Junior, San Marino

Was masterful in tossing shutout for Titans’ CIF wild-card win to wrap up season in which he went 8-1 with a 1.11 ERA, striking out 98 in 76 innings. Rio Hondo League first-teamer also hit .333 with 12 RBI.

P – Brian Gadsby, Soph., Crescenta Valley

A stalwart on the mound for the Falcons, the side-arm hurler was a first-team All-Pacific League pick after going 7-6 with a 1.96 ERA. Tallied six complete games with two shutouts, striking out 68 in 75 innings and walking just 18, while collecting big wins against the likes of Arcadia and Burbank.

IF – Clayton Herrmann, Senior, La Cañada

Rio Hondo League MVP and All-CIF Division IV first-team selection put himself on the map as a shutdown closer and dominant hitter. Struck out 15 in 14 innings, tallying a 2-0 record with six saves and a 0.50 ERA. At the dish, hit .355 (22 for 62) with 14 RBI, 14 runs and six stolen bases.

C – Caleb Lee, Senior, Pasadena Poly

Played catcher and pitched for Panthers en route to nods on the All-Prep League and All-CIF Southern Section Division V first teams. Struck out 58, went 8-2 and tallied a 1.58 ERA through 62 innings of work on the mound, while hitting .444 with 24 RBI and 21 runs scored offensively.

UTL – Brenden McKiernan, Junior, Flintridge Prep

Had a breakout season, earning first-team All-Prep League and second-team All-CIF honors with exploits on the mound and at the plate. Went 6-2 with a 2.76 ERA, while batting .370 with 11 runs.

IF – Jeffrey Oki, Junior, Maranatha

First baseman and pitcher was a big reason the Minutemen rallied for an Olympic League crown. An All-CIF and all-league honoree, he hit .400 with 24 RBI, 16 runs, 15 extra-base hits and 13 stolen bases. On the mound, he had four saves, a 3-1 record, a 1.24 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings.

IF – Brian Pozos, Senior, Burroughs

All-CIF shortstop turned in a terrific year for the Indians, earning a first-team All-Pacific League nod in the process. Hit .425 with nine of his 37 hits going for extra bases, while driving 24 runs, scoring 25 and stealing 16 bases.
