Glendale Unified announced Friday that there could be no furlough days taken by employees during the current school year after district officials came to a tentative agreement with the Glendale Teachers Assn. on Aug. 22.
There were originally five furlough days on the books to save the district $3 million.
But with an increase in state funding to Glendale Unified this year, one of those furlough days slated for 2013-14 has been rescinded.
The remaining four furlough days still remain on the books, but officials are planning to rescind one per year beginning 2015-16. Across the district, one furlough day taken by Glendale Unified employees would save the district $650,000.
