Police to ramp up motorcycle safety enforcement

September 06, 2013

Police plan to heavily enforce motorcycle safety on Sunday in neighborhoods most frequented by riders in the city.

Officers participating in the motorcycle safety enforcement operation will crack down on riders who are speeding, making illegal turns and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police plan to also monitor drivers whose dangerous driving may lead motorcyclists to crash.

No one was killed in motorcycle-involved collisions last year, but police and fire personnel responded to 25 crashes, which resulted in 22 injuries, officials said.
