Be.group offers Twelve Oaks defense

It's unfortunate that the facts concerning what be.group is doing to ensure the best possible outcome for our residents in light of Twelve Oaks' planned closure have been largely lost, as evidenced by your Sept. 16 editorial. Throughout this process, our top priority has been to make sure that we take good care of our residents. Here's what we've done to make it happen.

First, we're paying the cost of moving and providing the services of a senior relocation company that handles the packing, the move and unpacking for those residents who wish to take advantage of the service. This isn't something mandated by anyone; it's just the right thing to do.

Second, any resident who decides to move into another be.group community will pay the same monthly cost or even a lower rate at their new community for the next 12 months. In many cases, Twelve Oaks residents have the opportunity to move into a nicer community with more services and better accommodations. After 12 months, they'll be subject to the same modest annual increase that all residents receive.

Finally, I'm pleased to report that as of this week, more than three-quarters of our residents have found new accommodations and have either moved or are in the process of moving — several to other be.group communities.

For those who are sincere in the concern they've voiced on behalf of our residents, I hope this helps to put your mind at ease.
