The Verdugo Glen chapter of the American Business Women's Assn. has presented a national $1,500 scholarship to Naomi Bennett of Valley Village, who is earning a master's degree in fine arts at Cal State Los Angeles.

Bennett was selected by the association's Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund Trustees for her academics, extracurricular activities, work experience and goals.

At the university, with a fellow student, she reinstated a student theatrical organization and is the president of the group. The company staged three productions, which included a fundraising campaign, and is planning an Improv Theater Festival in 2013.

Bennett continues to pursue her goal of teaching performing arts at the university level.

The Verdugo Glen chapter meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month for a dinner business meeting at the Glendale Elks Club, 120 E. Colorado St., Glendale. For more information, call (818) 842-8626.
