These two women who walked across on a red hand at Brand… (Raul Roa / Staff…)

The Glendale Police Department conducted a pedestrian violations enforcement operation in Glendale on Nov. 14. Police officers cited 34 pedestrians and issued 62 warnings to people who either jaywalked or crossed a street and ignored traffic signs.

It is nice that the Glendale Police are approaching the rise in pedestrian hit-and-run collisions. Operations like these need to be done more frequently in order to lower the chance of pedestrian injuries.

People might think that getting tickets for walking across a crosswalk when the red hand is showing is unfair and unnecessary. But those tickets will alert many pedestrians and force them to obey the traffic signs.
