  • New Line Cinema, the studio that produced the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Wedding Crashers and the Austin Powers trilogy among other popular film titles, is moving to the lot of its parent company, Warner Bros., in Burbank by summer 2014.

  • In a move that will save the cash-strapped U.S. Postal Service about $740,720 over the next decade, the Glenoaks Post Office in Burbank closed its doors this month and its two employees were reassigned to nearby branches after more than two years of hand-wringing by residents.

  • The Los Angeles area received a light drizzle Thursday evening and could even get a bit of snow at higher elevations later Thursday night as a result of a weak cold front that was limping across the region, forecasters said.
