The victory improved Glendale’s record to 8-13 overall and 3-6 in league, as the Nitros handed Burroughs (15-6, 7-2) only its second league loss.
Junior Eddie Uluchyan helped lead the Nitros to victory in the final minute by hitting a three-pointer, which was followed up by two free throws from the guard.
Arthur Terzyan paced Glendale with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Stephan Arekelyan also scored 11 points, Raffi Jivalagian added 10 points and 12 rebounds and Tyler Lousararian tallied eight points.
Junior forward Gevork Sarkissian also filled in nicely for injured forward Alex Miralis, who was out with a concussion.
Sarkissian tallied six rebounds and was part of a defense that held the Indians’ high-scoring twosome of Amaad Wainwright and Rashid Ewing to 22 points combined. The duo entered averaging 43 points per game.
“We know what those two guys are capable of doing. They’ve lit us up before,” Snodgress said. “I was proud of the defense we played. It’s nice to get one.”
Pasadena 63, Hoover 59: The visiting Tornadoes fell short of a big upset Friday in a Pacific League contest. Hoover (12-9, 3-6 in league) got 17 points from Teo Davidian, 15 from Argin Sarkisian and 12 from Kevin Nazari.
Crescenta Valley 58, Muir 30: Ella Stepanian finished with 17 points, seven assists and four steals Friday to lift the visiting Falcons in a Pacific League contest. Crescenta Valley (17-6, 8-1 in league) got 12 points and eight rebounds from Alisa Shinn.
Hoover 36, Pasadena 35 (OT): The visiting Tornadoes posted a Pacific League victory Friday. Hoover improved to 5-9, 3-6 in league.
Burroughs 56, Glendale 53: The Nitros almost upset Pacific League first-place Burroughs on Friday evening at Glendale High, but a mid-court three-pointer gave the Indians the win at the end of overtime.
