Francisco Hernandez Miranda October 4, 1931 - January 29, 2014

February 11, 2014

Francisco Hernandez Miranda, of Burbank, CA, passed away peacefully at his home on January 29, 2014, with family by his side. He was 82 years old.

Francisco, or Frank, was born on October 4, 1931, to Elisio and Adela Miranda in Phoenix, AZ.

Frank grew up in Phoenix and Salome, AZ and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Pitkin County before being honorably discharged in 1955. After the Navy he became a barber, which was his lifelong occupation, and moved to Los Angeles. He married Frances Chavez in 1960 and eventually settled in Burbank in 1964.

As a barber and known as The Flattop King, Frank would have his own barbershop and, as the sign of the building reads, “Fight Hair Pollution”. Frank was, in his words, “a father and a mother” raising his children on his own (he divorced when they were young).

Frank loved to travel the United States and Mexico, and would try just about anything. Let’s just say he was adventurous and people loved hearing his stories. He was also a great friend, a teacher and an inspiration to many. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and welcoming smile.

He is survived by his children, Angy Miranda, Frank Miranda, Victoria Lombardi and Lorraine Miranda; three siblings, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Per Frank’s wishes, there will be no formal services and his ashes will be respectfully spread at sea.

PS. A special thanks to Kaiser Permanente (Hollywood) and staff for all your care.
