A 27-year-old Tujunga man accused of fatally shooting his cousin and dumping her on the Foothill (210) Freeway won’t be arraigned for about a month because he is hospitalized in a Los Angeles County jail medical ward, officials said Friday. Aram Sarukhanyan shot himself in his chin after allegedly shooting his cousin, Adrine Arzumanyan, on April 29 in a vehicle on the freeway, sheriffs said. He is charged with one felony count of murder and another felony count of brandishing a firearm at a civilian who attempted to stop him after he dumped her body at the La Crescenta Avenue offramp, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

GLENDALE — A Sunland man arrested after allegedly stabbing the host of a Glendale party and then hiding out within a police perimeter for more than six hours is scheduled to be arraigned today. Enrique Baraja, 24, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon before noon Saturday after hiding from police for more than six hours in a North Glendale neighborhood, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. "He was trying to stay one step ahead of us," Lorenz said.

GLENDALE — A 25-year-old Glendale man accused of stealing a collection jar for the funeral of a 6-year-old boy who died last week from leukemia posted his bail late Wednesday night, officials said. Arthur Madoyan, who was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail, had been scheduled to be arraigned today, but that date was pushed to Sept. 28 in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Glendale, police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. Madoyan was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary after allegedly stealing a donation jar Sunday afternoon from the El Mexicano Meat Market at 836 S. Glendale Ave. He told police that he spent the money on food and cigarettes, according to police reports.

Amber Willard SOUTHEAST GLENDALE -- A man accused of fatally shooting his 45-year-old daughter last week is scheduled to be arraigned next month. Sargis Geghamyan, 75, was arrested July 18 on suspicion of shooting Susanna Gagamyan in a parking lot in the 500 block of North Central Avenue. They were en route to a relative's house when they started arguing about family issues, Glendale Police have said. Officials declined to give specifics of the argument.

Gretchen Hoffman LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE -- A woman is set to be arraigned Thursday on charges she tortured and abused a man she kept imprisoned in her La Canada Flintridge home. Christine Rodriguez, 42, allegedly tortured Karel Hasa, an 83-year-old man who lived in her home, prosecutors said. Hasa testified at a preliminary hearing that she punched him in the mouth, knocking out three of his teeth, Deputy Dist. Atty. Philip Wojdak said. The abuse allegedly continued for three months until Rodriguez forgot to take the phone with her when she left the home and Hasa called police, Wojdak said.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Wednesday postponed the arraignment of a Burbank Unified School District teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student, her attorney said. Amy Beck, a 33-year-old teacher at Jordan Middle School, will remain in jail and is working with authorities as they investigate allegations that she had a sexual relationship with a student who was 14 at the time, said her attorney, Michael Williamson. “My client is not making any admissions,” Williamson said.

Darleene Barrientos Glendale Police filed a case with the district attorney Tuesday against a local man accused of shooting a woman to death, police said. Robert Norman Svelund, 42, will be arraigned July 8 in Pasadena Superior Court. Svelund was arrested Sunday after police were called to a house on the 1500 block of Cleveland Road where a woman had been shot in the chest with a shotgun, Glendale Police spokeswoman Officer Leticia Chang said.

Ana Regina Lim was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder after County-USC Medical Center doctors declared her daughter, Mikea Lim, brain-dead on Tuesday. A reputed gang member accused of trying to kill two Glendale men during a carjacking and subsequent freeway crash was ordered to stand trial Monday on attempted murder charges. Manuel Jesus Rodriguez, 28, of Tujunga is charged with carjacking, assault with a firearm and two counts of attempted murder stemming from the Jan. 7 shooting in Glendale, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. Rodriguez, who is also known as "Travieso," is a listed member of the Glendale-based Toonerville gang, which is named in an injunction obtained by Glendale and Los Angeles in 2009, officials said.

Prosecutors charged a reputed gang member Friday with trying to kill two Glendale men during a brazen carjacking and separate shootings earlier this week . Manuel Jesus Rodriguez, 28, of Tujunga faces two felony counts of attempted murder as well as a charge for carjacking in one of the incidents and a count of assaulting a man with a firearm in the other, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records. The men were not wounded during the incidents. Rodriguez is expected to be arraigned on the attempted murder charges Monday in the Los Angeles Superior Court in Glendale.

The relative of an 84-year-old Glendale man was charged with murder Thursday after the elderly man was found severely beaten in his home earlier this week. James Sanchez, 21, appeared in the Los Angeles Superior County Court in Pasadena, where he was remanded back into custody in lieu of $1-million bail. James Sanchez's arraignment was postponed until Dec. 5. Glendale police detectives and the U.S. Marshal's Task Force arrested James Sanchez at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday at a home in El Cajon as they followed leads connected to the death of Ruben Sanchez.

Family members and current and former Hoover High students showed up to court Friday in support of an instructor accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at the school. Prosecutors have filed four felony counts against Delvon Jackson, 38, accusing him of assaulting the girl on three separate occasions on the school grounds earlier this month. He is in custody in lieu of $1-million bail. An arraignment, originally scheduled for Friday, was postponed until Monday. A bail hearing is also scheduled for that day. Among those at the Glendale courthouse was 17-year-old Narek Hakobyan, who left school early to attend.

A North Hollywood man is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Monday morning in the death of a woman who was struck and killed by cars on the 210 Freeway in Sylmar. Ricardo “Rick” Jimenez, 26, is accused of stabbing Maria Josefina "Josie" Jimenez, 22, of Westlake, before she fell or jumped from a vehicle onto the freeway, where she was fatally hit by other drivers, according to the Los Angeles Times . Witnesses described Ricardo Jimenez's red Toyota as swerving erratically on the 210 Freeway in Sylmar Aug. 29 when it cut left across the lanes toward the shoulder, then veered hard right before correcting itself.

The arraignment for a 27-year-old man who allegedly posed as medical professional to sexually assault an Illinois woman in Glendale after she replied to his Craigslist ad for a personal assistant was postponed on Wednesday, police said. Glendale police officials say Garry Dwayne Boga targeted women from the Midwest who were looking to breakout in Hollywood. Detectives also believe Boga may have other victims after they discovered a detailed list of young women, according to Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

The Glendale man who was apparently high on the synthetic drug known as "bath salts" last week when he allegedly attacked a 77-year-old woman with a shovel is scheduled to be arraigned today for first degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. The man, 20-year-old Robert William White, was arrested Thursday after the alleged attack, but police first had to fire a rubber bullet and Taser to subdue him during a brief stand off when he barricaded himself inside his apartment.

Two men who allegedly burglarized a Glendale motorcycle shop and led police on a pursuit are expected to be arraigned Tuesday in a Los Angeles Superior courtroom, officials said. The men - Enrique Beltran, 37, of Hawthorne and Carlos Luna, 28, of Inglewood - were arrested Saturday morning after California Highway Patrol officers chased them on several freeways and eventually stopped them at the 105 Freeway and Hawthorne Boulevard, police said. A third suspect inside the vehicle fled the area before police arrested the pair.
