"It's the first murder I've picked up out of there and we believe it's an isolated incident. We do not believe there is a serial killer or any predators out there," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau Lt. Dan Rosenberg. The campground was closed Monday due to investigations but was re-opened to the public Tuesday.

LA CRESCENTA — Two Strike Park has a new addition to the landscape this summer in the form of some eye-catching murals. Brianne Johnson, 15, a member of La Crescenta’s Girl Scout Troop No. 290, recently completed her Gold Award project, which included the creation of Two Strike Park’s new pond and garden, as well as a series of colorful and informative murals. The murals, which also serve to educate the public on native plants, were temporarily placed on the outer walls of the park’s restroom facilities last week, and that’s where they will hang permanently once the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department procures the necessary protective glass and frames.

Are bathrooms without handicap grab bars blight? According to the Glendale Redevelopment Agency, they are. On Tuesday, the agency declared bathrooms at Fire Station 26 and adjoining Casa Verdugo Library blighted in order to use $305,000 in redevelopment money to pay for upgrades at the facilities. The upgrades have been on the city's capital improvement wish list two years in a row, but budget shortfalls have kept them from being funded.  City officials said in a report to the City Council Tuesday that there were “no other reasonable means of financing the improvements.”  The move shows the extent to which Glendale relies on its Redevelopment Agency, which the state is trying to eliminate.

It's an age-old question with as many answers as there are muffin-topped men afraid to talk about their feelings wandering the barbecue aisle at Home Depot on Saturday: What to do for Father's Day? So here to aid, abet and entertain you is "The Perfect Father's Day" as imagined by yours truly (if time, money and gastro capacity had no limits, of course). Awake from a predawn dream of being in my wife's arms to find myself in her arms. She grumbles, disappointed, as I leave for the bathroom.

Hogg's Hollow is not your typical preschool. There are many unique elements that set the school apart from others. Pillows, hand sewn by the students, are displayed as decoration along side needlepoint projects in the works. An actual full size tepee is set up in the play yard by volunteer parents for the students to explore and hold class in. The tepee also acts as the dining room for the students after they shop for, cook and eat an entire Thanksgiving feast, prepared with their very own little hands.
