NORTHEAST GLENDALE ? The six quarterbacks and three wide receivers who came out to Glendale Community College on Saturday morning for the Fusion Football Camp comprised a class that was admittedly smaller than what directors Bob Gagliano and Chris Thomas were hoping for, if not expecting. That didn?t stop the two retired NFL veterans from giving their full attention, energy and knowledge to a handful of the area?s aspiring football standouts who came out to participate in an offshoot of the five-month football clinic developed by Gagliano and Thomas that is quickly gaining notoriety for its unique methods and tangible results.

Football workshop to be held at GCC The Fusion Football Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at Glendale Community College, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale. The event is geared for quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends ages 11 to 18. It will offer training and tips with respect to each position and will be conducted by former NFL players Chris Thomas and Bob Gagliano. The cost is $200 per person. Registration will run from 8 to 9 a.m. Lunch will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration and payment will be due the day of the camp.

As Bob Gagliano tightly grips a football on a hot August afternoon, he does so on a Glendale Community College football field nothing like it was many autumns ago when he dazzled Vaqueros fans with his play under center. The revamped Sartoris Field was merely a practice field then and Moyse Field was the Vaqueros’ home. Gagliano was a budding college prospect in 1977, a Hoover High graduate still in the early stages of his playing days on the gridiron, days that would lead to a long career in the NFL and USFL.

SOUTHEAST GLENDALE — The Glendale YMCA Quarterback Club, in its 67th year, meets Tuesday’s at the Elk’s Lodge. The following are odds and ends from the 12th and final meeting of the year.   COACHES ANNOUNCE INDIVIDUAL AWARDS For the last time this season, the four area high school football teams affiliated with the Glendale YMCA Quarterback Club showered praise upon their teams. Each of the programs handed out their respective team awards at Tuesday’s event.
