Previously I had written on the directors who have retired from the chamber, but at that time didn't have the space to properly recognize the outgoing president and honorary mayor. They both will remain on; Paul Dutton becomes past president and Ira Hart will return to our board as a director. Jointly they have accomplished a lot in one short year, though it may not seem so short to them. Aside from starting the Network Breakfast Program at the chamber, Paul has also been involved with other community projects.

Well, here we are at the last three-day weekend of the summer. Wow, summer went by fast, like it always does (more so as I get older). I love summer, going to the beach, barbecuing and sunshine every day; it?s the best! Whatever you do over the Labor Day weekend, relax, enjoy, have fun and be safe. A big ?thank you? to the Dunaway Group at Broadview Realty for providing a delicious breakfast at our August board meeting. It was so gracious of you and we really appreciated it. Free admission: Attend the Foothills Community Business Expo on Wednesday, Sept.

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving, didn't gobble till you wobble, but if you did, bet it was yummy, and probably made you sleepy. Some people say turkey causes this; I have found other foods do as well. Such as dessert. That's the culprit. Let's not blame the innocent turkey who didn't want to come to dinner anyway. Speaking of food, the La Crescenta Woman's Club Mixer is on Wednesday, Dec. 13 and will feature nourishments donated by Togo's in La Crescenta. The mixer runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Plan on talented entertainment by the fantastic Crescenta Valley High School Charismatic Choir.

Welcoming New Officers, Directors The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce 81st installation of officers and directors will take place Wednesday, Jan. 11. We will also be installing our new Honorary Mayor, Ira Hart, manager of Cal National Bank. This special event will include recognition of our outgoing officers, directors and honorary mayor. Being on the Chamber Board may be a volunteer position, but it takes time away from their business schedules. Leaving us as president will be Rick Dinger.
