Gary Moskowitz There was an abundant supply of carrots this year at Fremont Elementary School's Halloween Costume Parade. Yes, carrots. Fifth-grade teacher Valerie Jordan, who came as Queen of the Green Slips for Halloween last year, went for a more positive, healthy approach in 2002 -- Queen of Beta Carotene. Jordan, dressed in an orange gown and carrying a wicker basket full of carrots, handed the beta carotene-producing vegetable to Fremont students Thursday at the school's annual Halloween celebration.

The Easter Bunny hopped over to Valley Vista School on Easter Sunday to deliver colorful hard-boiled eggs and fresh carrots to all the students. Afterward, each class celebrated Easter with a craft and party. Valley Vista School is accepting applications for the Fall school year and their popular summer program. Both have spots available for children ages 3 to 5 years old. The summer program runs from June 22 to August 28. Each theme week includes "Fun in the Sun", music, roughhousing, cooking and story-time.

Delicious food with no frills is the philosophy at Rocky?s Fish & Poultry in Burbank. The routine here is to order at the counter, pick up your order on a Styrofoam plate, bring it to your table on a plastic tray, eat with plastic utensils and bus your own table when finished.
