THREE STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS Three high school graduates are the first to be honored with Caruso Affiliated’s The Spirit of American Youth Scholarship awards. Launched earlier this year, this annual program provides a $10,000 scholarship to each winning student who has shown commitment to community improvement and dedication to academic excellence. “These three students embody the spirit, honor and idealism that is reflected in the inspiring bronze statue at the center of The Americana at Brand — “The Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves,” said Rick Caruso, CEO of Caruso Affiliated.

Caruso's plan more beneficial to Glendale Re: Caruso proposal vs. General Growth proposal: After reviewing Caruso Affiliated's proposed plans for the Glendale Town Center, and the alternative plan by Glendale Galleria owners General Growth Properties, I have come to a conclusion. I believe the alternative plan by GGP would benefit the Glendale Galleria more than it would the city. It adds excess open space and 100 more residential units, with 100,000 square feet less retail space.

A suspicious mailer touting a suspicious supporter Just received another letter in the mail today from an outfit that calls itself "Save Prop. 13" signed by "Hon. James V Lacy, Chairman Save Prop. 13 Committee," neither of whom I've ever heard about or from other than their support of measures A, B and C. It's all very clear when I get to the bottom of the letter, where it is printed, "Paid for by Glendale Neighbors Supporting Our New Town Center, a coalition with major funding by Caruso Affiliated Holdings, LLC -- Yes on Measures A, B and C."

Misinformation, deception and outright lies about the Town Center are increasingly being used by the opponents to the Town Center in an effort to confuse the residents of Glendale and influence the outcome of the Sept. 14 referendum vote. For months, I've listened to critics of the plan misstate facts and figures. I want to help set the record straight, particularly with regard to the allegation that the city is "giving away" $77.1 million to Caruso Affiliated.
