More burritos are on the way. Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Grill is building a new restaurant at 132 N. Glendale Ave. within blocks of competitors Baja Fresh and Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill. The three restaurants will be close, but the new addition won’t hurt business at the other food stops, Glendale Development Services Director Philip Lanzafame said. “I think they’re different enough, and they’re distanced enough from the others to be successful,” Lanzafame said of Chipotle, which plans to open its doors just one block from Rubio’s in August.

CITY CENTER — Parking at Trader Joe’s has often been complicated by the crowds of shoppers who compete for spaces in the store’s lot, but that routine has become more difficult with the opening last month of high-traffic neighbor Chipotle. Customers at the adjacent Glendale Avenue locations, which share the same parking area, often cram the property during lunch hour, creating gridlock inside and outside the lot. Lines of cars are frequently backed up into the street, as drivers hold up traffic while waiting for spaces to clear.

The Glendale Galleria, which underwent a major renovation that was unveiled last fall , is gearing up to offer a slew of new stores and eateries in the coming months and news about what will take over the former Nordstrom space could come as early as May. Meanwhile, the Americana at Brand will soon welcome a few new tasty offerings. The upcoming openings come on the heels of the opening of a Bloomingdale's store last November in the Galleria on the corner of Brand Boulevard and Broadway.

Dean Briggs and Craig Hobbs, Enjoy! GLENDALE -- The Canyon Cafe is a very comfortable place to sit and have a drink and enjoy the view with friends. Some of their dishes are delicious and wonderful. Their entrees however, at least the three we sampled, seemed to lack focus. Situated next to the Mann's Marketplace 4 Theaters, the restaurant is decorated in a Southwestern motif that is quite attractive. As the sun went down, blinds were opened to reveal an outdoor patio and an appealing view of the Hollywood Hills behind the Glendale cityscape.

Call it the naked lunch. No, we’re not talking about the William S. Burroughs junkie novel (do junkies even eat?), but a novel lunch truck where you order sandwich-style or without the bun — ”naked.” Clean Street Food, the brainchild of chef Jack Harding, sticks to a small, sophisticated menu, focusing on freshness. It’s a lunch truck bringing simple, relatively healthy food to the street. Ordered naked style, the marinated steak, sliced Parmesan with Caesar salad and chopped tomato is a substantial dish, with generous amounts of flavorful meat and tangy cheese to keep hunger at bay. Fried chicken breast with shredded red cabbage salad and lemon aioli is a vast improvement on any fast-food joint’s chicken sandwich.

The line at the Tony Roma's table extended out 10 feet, hands down the longest at Thursday night's second annual Taste of Burbank. And those hands would have been streaked with the barbecue sauce from the chicken legs and ribs being served by restaurant employees. Arleta resident Mike Shanto was among those who lined up for a sampling of Roma's fare. "I love the food and I love the city and the music," Shanto said. San Fernando Boulevard between Orange Grove Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard was closed down for the event.

Going to Panera Bread in Glendale is like putting on your favorite jacket on a chilly autumn day. It?s warm, it goes with everything, and you feel good wearing it. You can trust that a meal at Panera will be comforting and good for you, the ambience will be warm and welcoming, and the experience will be relatively painless (sometimes, in life, the zipper does get stuck). Panera is a little like a modern cafeteria in that you order your food in one area and have it delivered in another.

The line wrapped around the entire perimeter at the new burrito joint in Glendale, but this was no lunchtime rush. It was already 2:30 p.m. Chipotle Mexican Grill, which takes its name from the smoked and dried jalapeno chili, opened a new store in Glendale on Friday, attracting long lines throughout the day. “The meat is fresher, the portions bigger, the tortilla chips better, and the burrito bowl, you can only get that here,” Michael...
