Hoover High School's 75th Anniversary and All-Class Reunion today promises to be a smile-inducing trip down memory lane for countless Hoover grads and their families, who'll be at the school from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to say "Happy Birthday" and participate in a variety of events. On today's anniversary schedule are school tours, lunch, award presentations, a classic car show, raffles, souvenirs, historic exhibits and performances by the school's drum corps and award-winning jazz band.

Alecia Foster SOUTHEAST GLENDALE -- Susan Stiles has spent much of her spare time tracking down Holy Family High School alumnae. It hasn't been easy. "Everyone keeps moving around," she said, laughing. But Stiles, alumnae coordinator at the school, is confident there still will be a good turnout to the Seventh Annual Gathering of the Gaels. The event is an all-years class reunion that has attracted graduates from as far back as 1941 -- the school's first graduating class.

Herb Vincent sat in his 1914 Ford at Johnny Carson Park Saturday and chatted with graduates from Burbank and Burroughs high schools as they stopped to admire his wood-slatted truck. It was one of more than 30 cars entered into the car show that accompanied the sixth annual Burroughs-Burbank All-Class Reunion that attracted more than 500 Saturday. Vincent graduated from Burbank in 1946 and his wife, Velma (Boren) Vincent, is a '48 alumni. "Velma and I didn't go to college.

FROM THE CITY EDITOR'S DESK There are three times a year when street parking in Montrose is at a premium -- Oktoberfest, the Christmas parade and the Arts and Crafts festival. They are all events that draw people to our sleepy town from all over Los Angeles. They make Montrose a destination, times when the town gathers together for a little food, a little fun and a lot of socializing. Last year was my first Oktoberfest, and I had a great time. I had never seen so many people here out past 10 o'clock at night.

La Crescenta resident new partner Brian K. Brookey, a La Crescenta resident, was named a partner to Christie, Parker & Hale, LLP, the firm's executive committee chair Robert A. Green announced Wednesday. The law firm is one of the largest in California devoted exclusively to intellectual property law. Brookey graduated magna cum laude from Pepperdine University with a bachelor's degree in English. He then earned his J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law. Brookey handles lawsuits at the trial and appellate level involving claims of patent, trademark, and copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition.

Gary Moskowitz Jo Ness, a 1954 graduate of Hoover High School, remembers the day students participated in the school's first walkout. Ness and about 20 Hoover graduates met Thursday evening for a brief press reception at the Hilton Glendale to promote the school's upcoming 75th anniversary celebration. Former students reminisced about old times, exchanged stories about their days at Hoover and looked at old pictures of the school campus and the city of Glendale.
