It was only a matter of time. They were just too good, too tough. Everyone said so. After one tough game in which the Crescenta Valley Under 12 girls' team showed their dominance, even the opposing coach had to praise their skill. "They're the best team in the league," he said, shaking his head. Now the word is official. After several hard fought games, the Crescenta Valley Soccer Club Girls' Under 12 team broke out of its long-held position in second place to grab the top spot.

Earlier this month, the US Soccer Club held its western regional competition in Las Vegas with three Flyers-AUSC Soccer Club teams dominating the competition. All three teams made it into the final rounds of their respective competitions, with two teams advancing and receiving invitations to the 2005 National Cup IV Finals (Region F-Premier) to be held in Orlando, Florida at the end of July. The Flyers-AUSC Boys Under 14 Team won the championship with a 3-1 victory over a strong Hawaii Bulls team.

The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club Under-13 girls' team advanced to the semifinals of the Santa Barbara Cup, which was played at UC Santa Barbara during the weekend. Goals by Nancy Avesyan and Stephanie Stumbaugh paved the way in a 2-2 pool-play contest against the Santa Clarita Magic on Saturday. CV -- which is coached by CV girls' varsity soccer mentor Reggie Rivas -- defeated the South Coast Storm of Laguna Hills, 2-0, on Saturday. Hannah Green assisted Avesyan on the first goal.

The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club under-13 girls' team, coached by CV High girls' soccer Coach Reggie Rivas, brought home their second consecutive white division championship at the 11th annual Claremont Stars Summer Classic Tournament held July 19-22. On July 22, CV defeated the So-Cal Gunners in the championship match, 3-0. Nancy Avesyan, Kim Carcich, and Candice Chessum all scored in the match. In the semifinal match earlier that day, a goal by Richelle Mascaro on a free kick was enough to defeat Pacific Soccer Club of Rancho Santa Margarita, 1-0. In the quarterfinals July 21, CV defeated Canyon Classic of Anaheim, 8-0. Hannah Green, Avesyan, and Carcich each scored a pair of goals.

The Crescenta Valley Girls' Under 13 team last year won its league in the silver bracket of the Coast Soccer League. As they moved into the silver elite bracket this season, they knew the competition would be increasing as they would play against the top teams in Southern California. After a grueling 14-game schedule, this talented group of athletes came in second place. They defeated some of the finest teams that can be found from Simi Valley to Alta Loma. The team is currently preparing for the League Cup and National Cup tournaments.

The Los Angeles Futbol Club (LAFC) Boys Under 16 Black team competed in the Santa Barbara Summer Cup tournament at UCSB Aug. 26-27 and brought home a championship trophy for the second straight tournament. The team remains undefeated in tournament play under the guidance of Head Coach Charles Martinez. The first game was a hard-fought victory over the Galaxy SC Palisades Rattlers, 1-0. The second game saw LAFC beat the Camarillo Eagles, 2-1, and the third game was a tough match against Apex Futbolistas with a final score of 2-0. The finals featured a rematch with the Rattlers.

The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club U16 girl’s team completed a clean sweep of the Gold division of the Coast Soccer league this season. The team, coached by Reggie Rivas and Assistant Coach Randy Lilavois, won its final league game over Palmdale Thunder at CV high school over Thanksgiving weekend. The team was able to go 11-0 and topped many of the finest teams in the area. Following a stellar summer tournament schedule, in which it won five tournaments, it continued its winning ways by powering through the season undefeated.

The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club U13 girls team began the second half of its season in fine fashion, winning two games this past weekend. On Saturday, the girls faced the Santa Clarita Valley Magic squad at Crescenta Valley High. Sissy Sovereign staked CV to an early lead, scoring in the eighth minute on the match. The U13s looked to close out the half with the lead, but Magic knotted the score at one-all with less than two minutes to go in the half. CV came out of the break aggressively with Paige O'Connor scoring a go-ahead goal just three minutes into the second period.
