A building from the 1930s, music from the ’80s and clientele from Generation Y make Eat Well an interesting place to eat. Located in Glendale on South Brand, just up from Chevy Chase, you’ll find parking in front, behind and north of the building. There are two rooms, one with tables and chairs, and the main room with a counter and booths. If you sit in one of the two horseshoe booths, don’t let your friends force you into the corner! We found no support at the bends in the back.

An artsy coffee shop is brewing up plans to "Revo-lutionize" the image of quaint and quiet Adams Square. But it is not nearby residents' cup of tea. Revo Art and Jazz Café reopened in early January after about two months of renovations. The changes are no revolution for Revo, but they might be for Adams Square, a small commercial district at the foot of Adams Hill in south Glendale. "The last one was just straight coffee shop — art and jazz café," said Aram Manoukian, owner of the Revo café.

Glendale hosts a wonderful group of coffee shops, ranging from Montrose's City Hall, my morning haunt for the past few years, to Downtown's Foxy's, my brother Don Trowbridge's favorite for ages. Right in the middle is The Toasted Bun. If you want to know Glendale as it is now and as it has been, the Toasted Bun is a good place to go. You will know what makes it a classic as soon as you walk in. Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, the Toasted Bun is a friendly, comfortable place.

Clock at center of Montrose Shopping Park gets a face lift and a new musical sound system. It was 10:15 a.m. and the clock tower at the center of Montrose Shopping Park started to play a rendition of Frosty The Snowman. On the street corner below the clock, in front of The Coffee Bean, John Drayman smiled as he took in the surroundings. "It's the aura of a Norman Rockwell painting. A real Midwestern look," said Drayman, a member of the shopping park association. "Before the malls, this was retail in America."

Before Starbucks colonized Burbank, if you can remember such a time, there was Priscilla's. And when the corporate giant put a store across the intersection from the independent java house, many of us feared it would be the end of them. Happily, that wasn't the case. Priscilla's is alive and well and doing what they do best, serving up good cups of coffee, tea and special drinks along with tasty pastries and a smile. Priscilla's is situated on a leafy corner and brings the outdoors inside with an English garden mural that wraps around the room.

Lounging in a comfortable leather chair reading a notebook, Glendale Community College student Fabiola Prieto appeared to be right at home at Glendale's newest Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which opened Tuesday across from campus. Prieto had been anticipating the store's opening, directly across from the college where Canada and Verdugo boulevards meet. Coffee Bean is one of the main tenants of the new food court, owned and developed by Turian Properties, which is most accessible by using the college's pedestrian bridge.
