GLENDALE - Glendale Community College's softball team received production throughout its lineup Thursday against L.A. Mission College. The Vaqueros hammered out 13 hits, had two home runs, including a grand slam, and eight of nine starters collected hits - and that all came in just four innings. It took two innings for the Glendale college offense to get rolling, but once it did, runs started coming in bunches. The Vaqueros used two big innings to knock off the Eagles, 11-2, in a Western State Conference Blue Division contest that was halted in the fifth inning at the Glendale Sports Complex.

GLENDALE - After a hot start to the season, the Glendale Community College softball team has hit a cold streak. That early season chill continued at the Glendale Sports Complex on Saturday. College of the Desert, ranked seventh in the California Community College Athletic Assn. Southern California preseason poll, defeated the Vaqueros, 8-0, 12-2 in a nonconference doubleheader. “I just think that the last three games have been eye openers because we started so strong and it's a young team,” said Glendale Coach Sal Pizzo, whose team has lost four in a row. “Sometimes when you start strong it's almost a double-edged sword.

GLENDALE - After paying tribute to their former coach, the members of the Glendale Community College softball team turned to Jocelyn Zavala for some clutch plate appearances Friday night. Prior to Glendale's game against Long Beach City College at the Glendale Sports Complex, the Vaqueros honored Dave “Hawk” Wilder, who had piloted the program the past 13 years. Wilder died in June at 70, and the program decided to name its annual tournament in honor of him. Zavala enjoyed a big night at the plate, as she drove in all three runs to propel Glendale to a 3-1 tournament victory.
