LA CRESCENTA — Glendale Police staked out a house on the 2800 block of Altura Avenue for several rainy hours on Thursday night in pursuit of a parolee but came up empty handed. Winston Baker, 26, who was convicted of grand theft and grand theft auto, had apparently fled the scene when the Glendale SWAT team entered the home at around 7:30 p.m., Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. The incident started about 3 p.m. when an officer patrolling the area was flagged down by an individual who mentioned that a truck on Altura had a different license plate on the front than it had on the back, Lorenz said, adding that the truck was listed as stolen.

The Crescenta Valley High School girls' soccer team would like to thank our fans for being alongside us throughout our season, especially during our playoff run. It was your cheering in the stands and constant encouragement that helped pave the way to our CIF championship game. It was overwhelming to look up into the stands at Gahr High School to see the hundreds of people that came to watch us play. Our gratitude for your endless support cannot be expressed in words.
