LA CRESCENTA - Lisa Kang showed some grit to help keep the Crescenta Valley High girls' soccer team atop the Pacific League. Kang went to the net twice and was rewarded each time during a Pacific League match against visiting Burbank on Monday. “You are told to go to the net and anything can happen,” said Kang, a junior forward who scored a pair of second-half goals to lead Crescenta Valley to a 3-1 victory. “You have to be ready at all times. “The first goal hit off my nose and the second off my head.

SOUTHEAST GLENDALE - Crescenta Valley High's Cole Currie made a believer out of the Glendale boys' basketball team - again. In the teams' latest head-to-head meeting Monday, Currie, a senior guard at Crescenta Valley, used a season-high point total to further validate his status against the Nitros. Currie finished with 34 points, including 21 in the first half, to power Crescenta Valley to a 61-50 Pacific League road win against Glendale. “It's not the first time Cole Currie has done this to us,” Glendale Coach Steve Snodgress said.

LA CRESCENTA - As the Crescenta Valley High boys' basketball team made its lengthy playoff run, capped by an appearance in the state tournament, last season, Nick Springer spent most of the time on the bench waiting his turn. Springer envisioned stepping into the starting lineup and helping the Falcons win a playoff game. Springer's chance came Friday night and he backed it up with a sterling performance. Springer finished with a career-high 32 points to help fourth-seeded Crescenta Valley register an 80-42 home victory against Paloma Valley in a CIF Southern Section Division I-A opening-round contest.

LA CRESCENTA - Eric Keshishian and Erick Trejo appear to be meshing at the right time while also forming a worthy 1-2 punch for the Crescenta Valley High boys' soccer team. The duo provided a couple of examples Monday for Crescenta Valley during a Pacific League home match against Hoover. Trejo assisted on two goals by Keshishian to help spark Crescenta Valley to a 3-1 victory and put the Falcons atop league nearing the midway point. “We are so familiar with each other and we have that connection,” said Keshishian, who scored both of his goals in the first 13 minutes to help the Falcons jump out to a 2-0 advantage.

GIRLS' WATER POLO Crescenta Valley 21, Burbank 3 : Lynley Fernandez and Elissa Arnold scored five goals apiece Thursday to lead the visiting Falcons, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division V, in a Pacific League match. Caitlin Connell added four goals for Crescenta Valley (21-2, 5-0 in league).

ARCADIA - Though they had already been eliminated from playoff contention, the Crescenta Valley High football team had plenty of things to play for when it met rival Arcadia in its season finale Friday night. The Falcons looked to finish .500 and looked to the future with quarterback Brian Gadsby leading the charge. The Falcons accomplished both feats, as Gadsby completed 21 of 36 passes for 204 yards and scored a rushing touchdown to lead visiting Crescenta Valley to a 23-7 Pacific League win. Crescenta Valley finished 5-5, 3-4 in league.

LA CRESCENTA - Shortly before the season began, each player on the Crescenta Valley High boys' basketball team met individually with the coaching staff. When it came time for Nick Springer to congregate with the coaches, Springer was assigned multiple roles as one of the returning players from last season's team that reached the CIF Southern Section Division I-A semifinals and advanced to the state tournament. So far, the junior guard has proven to be up to meeting expectations.

LA CRESCENTA - It would be understandable if the Crescenta Valley High boys' soccer team was a bit fatigued. The Falcons recently began a difficult stretch in which they play six matches in eight days. Crescenta Valley turned to Matt Ryan and Eric Keshishian on Thursday afternoon for offensive support. Ryan and Keshishian each collected one goal and one assist to lead host Crescenta Valley to a 3-2 nonleague victory against St. John Bosco. “We've been playing lots of games and some of our guys are sore,” said Crescenta Valley Coach Grant Clark, whose team improved to 5-0-1.

NORTHWEST GLENDALE - With Noel Wong in command with her serving, the Crescenta Valley High girls' volleyball team liked its chances. The Falcons turned to Wong to provide her share of aces on Thursday afternoon to earn a 25-17, 14-25, 25-15, 25-20 Pacific League win against host Hoover. Crescenta Valley improved to 8-9, 6-7 in league and moved into fourth place in league after Pasadena (5-8 in league) lost to Burroughs on Thursday. The top four teams in league automatically qualify for the playoffs.

LA CRESCENTA - Multiple goal-scoring options exist throughout the lineup of the Crescenta Valley High girls' water polo team. It's helped pave the way for the Falcons to begin their season on a positive note. The balanced offense struck again for the Falcons on Friday afternoon, as eight players scored at least one goal en route to an easy 16-4 nonleague home victory against Louisville. “We have a lot of depth and versatility and that's key on offense and defense,” said junior Shannon Hovanesian, a reigning All-Area first-team honoree who scored a team-high four goals to help the Falcons improve to 12-1.
