Disney Interactive Studios has agreed to acquire Wideload Games Inc., a Chicago-based producer and developer of interactive entertainment, according to an announcement released this week. As part of the agreement, industry veteranAlexander Seropian, Wideload Games founder and chief executive, will join Disney Interactive Studios in the newly created role of vice president of creative. Seropian, who is relocating to Glendale, is renowned as the founder of Bungie Software and was among the creators of the highly successful Halo series.

Completing a round of job cuts that was announced in June, the Walt Disney Co. will lay off 65 employees Sunday, most of them from the company's headquarters in Burbank. Although it was reported 200 Disney jobs would be eliminated in June, not all of the cuts were made at that time, according to a company source. However, the workers who would be laid off were told in June their jobs would be eliminated in the future, the source added. “The timing was different for everybody in terms of when they left the company,” the source said, who asked to be anonymous because he was not authorized to speak.
