Tim Willert CITY HALL -- Nearly three months after being pulled from the air waves, "The Dog House" is returning with a new pair of co-hosts. The Glendale Humane Society's popular pet adoption program will return to GTV6, the city's government access station, beginning Dec. 3, city spokesman Ritch Wells said Friday. "'The Dog House' is one of our most popular programs," Wells said. "Anybody who loves animals loves the program." Tim Willert NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- For one night, the Glendale Humane Society put on a happy face, hosting an open house Thursday to attract new members and rebuild a reputation damaged by allegations of abuse and mismanagement. Shelter volunteers and board members spoke of the future as they greeted about 100 guests inside the Hilton Glendale. "I'm just glad people are here," said Terri Wagener, a shelter booster who organized the event along with outgoing board member Lisa McCarley.

Gary Durrett OK, kids -- this week's bag is going to feature a pop quiz. It involves a very special date in American history. The answer will be listed at the end of my column, but no fair peeking. Here's the question: What monumentous event occurred on Sept. 6, 1951? Now, on with the news. Did you all see the picture of the Big Boy float? I know I've been pulling the old guy's leg for weeks now, and he still gives me the creeps -- but I've got to admit, aside from the fact that Glendale has chosen a flagrantly commercial theme for its entry this year, I'm getting a perverse sense of whimsy from the effort.
