Bob Keen, who grew up in Eagle Rock and graduated from Eagle Rock High School in 1953, spent many of his youthful days drag racing and meeting his friends at Bob’s Big Boy on Colorado Street. Keen drove a 1934 Ford Coupe and later a 1931 Ford Roadster and was a member of a hot-rod club, the Headers. He raced at drag strips in Pomona, Saugus and Santa Ana. Eagle Rock was just over the hill from Glendale, so, after a daytime race, Keen, who has lived in Glendale for many years, and his friends would head to Bob’s, a popular place to meet before or after a race.
