The following are odds and ends from the local sports scene. REID, EAGLES NOTCH VICTORY For the first time in a month, Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid didn't have to address questions following a Philadelphia loss. Reid, a former Glendale Community College football player, saw Philadelphia end its four-game losing streak Sunday with a 20-13 road win against the division-rival Washington Redskins. The Eagles (2-4) received a big effort from running back LeSean McCoy , who rushed for 126 yards in 28 carries and one touchdown.

The following are odds and ends from the local sports scene. JACKSON, RAIDERS EARN EMOTIONAL WIN The end of an era — with the Oakland Raiders and the National Football League — came Saturday when iconic Raiders owner Al Davis died. He was 82. One of Davis' last major moves came in January and it involved a local tie. Davis gave Coach Hue Jackson , a former Glendale Community College quarterback, his first head-coaching job in January. Jackson landed the role after leading Oakland's offensive resurgence last season.

Before the Marshall High football team could even settle into Saturday night's game against St. Genevieve, it was down by two scores. The Valiants went up by two touchdowns less than two minutes into the game, which was played at Sun Valley Poly High , and it only got worse as the Eagles fell, 49-6. “It took all 11 guys on every side of the ball to lose this one,” Marshall Coach James Zall said.

Governor Jerry Brown vetoed a bill Tuesday that would have doubled fines for illegal cellphone use while driving, Laist.com reported. The bill would have also held bicyclists accountable to the same laws as drivers. The governor said he supports discouraging the use of cellphone in the car, but didn't want ratchet up the penalties for such infractions. The bill's author, Sen. Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto), said Brown's veto is “a lost opportunity to save more lives," according to the news site.

GLENDALE — A Dream Team? Not so fast. At least not according to longtime Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid, who tempered expectations over his team's new look on Wednesday. "Right now, we've got a lot of good-looking guys standing around watching," Reid, a former Glendale Community College player in the 1970s, told ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning. "Obviously, dreams aren't reality, so the reality will come when I get my hands on them and we get them into practice and start grinding here like the other guys are grinding.

Danny Casey (Glendale Community College, 2009) Concordia baseball senior : Casey and the Cinderella Concordia squad culminated the greatest season in program history with a 9-3 victory over Lubbock Christian on Friday night in Lewiston, Ida. in the championship game of the NAIA World Series in front of reported 3,075 fans. "Everybody thought we couldn't do this," said Casey of his Eagles squad, the only team in Idaho that was never ranked in the NAIA Top 25. "We beat every team.

With the victory, the Eagles moved into tonight's championship game at 7. They awaited the winner of Wednesday's late game between Lubbock Christian and Lee University.

Danny Casey (Glendale Community College, 2009) senior infielder, Concordia University, Irvine baseball: Casey and the Eagles remain alive in their bid to win the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. Casey, a former All-CIF pick, and Concordia picked up a 7-4 victory against Oklahoma City University in an elimination game Tuesday afternoon.
